For the Staatsanwaltschaft Bern-Mittelland in Bern, we are looking for a female or male Public Prosecutor. This involves holiday replacements in the investigation and the summary penalty order department. The position is limited until 3. September 2027.

Your tasks

• Lead preliminary proceedings including supervision and right of instruction towards the police
• Conduct criminal investigations (case management) effectively and efficiently
• Filing of indictments and personal representation of the indictment before courts of first instance
• Technical leadership, instruction and control of the work results of employees of the summary penalty order department
• Issuing summary penalty orders, orders to discontinue, orders of non-prosecution and orders of suspension

Filing of legal remedies

• Fulfilling general and personal performance requirements within the Staatsanwaltschaft
• Performing regular on-call duty

Your profile

• Attorney or Bern notary patent
• Qualified knowledge of criminal law and criminal procedure law
• Several years of activity in criminal justice is an advantage
• Good understanding of case management
• Confidence in writing and appearance
• Communication skills
• German native language with good French skills (B1)

The Staatsanwaltschaft is responsible for enforcing the state's right to prosecute. It leads the preliminary proceedings, prosecutes criminal offenses within the framework of investigations, files indictments if necessary and represents this indictment in court. In minor cases, it issues a summary penalty order. Organizationally, the Staatsanwaltschaft of the Canton of Bern consists of the Generalstaatsanwaltschaft, three Staatsanwaltschaften for the entire cantonal territory (one Staatsanwaltschaft for the prosecution of economic offenses, one Staatsanwaltschaft for special tasks and one Staatsanwaltschaft for juvenile criminal matters), as well as four regional Staatsanwaltschaften (Berner Jura-Seeland, Emmental-Oberaargau, Bern-Mittelland and Oberland).
