Your tasks

We are looking for a person with an autonomous design practice as well as teaching experience in product and industrial design, at the intersection of object, space, human, and environment. In your practice, you combine design, technical, and societal issues to create sustainable and innovative design concepts. You have workshop experience, work interdisciplinarily, and combine digital design processes with traditional manufacturing and material techniques. The preparatory course prepares students for studies, particularly in the product and industrial design curriculum (textile design, object design, spatial design, creative transformation).

As a lecturer

• Development and implementation of teaching formats to transmit the conceptual, methodological, and technical foundations of design processes, integrating digital/AI technologies as well as artisanal processes.
• Didactically founded guidance of work processes, from research to concept development to presentation.
• Supporting students in the development of a creative position and language.
• Promotion of an informed, sustainable, and experimental design practice as well as responsible management of materials and resources.
• Supervision and mentoring of students in the portfolio process.

As a module responsible

• Overall responsibility for the planning, implementation, and continuous development of the module for which you are responsible, in accordance with guidelines.
• Lateral management of the teachers and lecturers involved in the module; in particular, ensuring communication, fostering collaboration, and coordinating tasks. Recruitment of lecturers in agreement with the co-direction.
• Planning and allocation of resources and material means within the module.
• Ensuring the didactic quality and topicality of the teaching. Quality assurance and development of the module, including feedback to teachers.
• Participation in the professional, organizational, and personal development of the preparatory course in design.
• Representation of the product and industrial design field within the central team as well as within the Design Film Art department.
• Active participation in exchanges, planning, evaluations, and development groups, as well as strategic reflection.

Your profile

• You hold a university degree (master or diploma) in the field of product and industrial design (textile design, object design, spatial design).
• You have an autonomous design practice with professional experience in the field of transformation or process design.
• You know the Swiss design scene, are visible there, and are well connected.
• You have teaching experience in a university of applied sciences or a preparatory course in design. A certificate in university didactics can be obtained as part of the employment.
• You possess strong methodological skills and are familiar with current circular design processes.
• You master digital design and visualization tools (e.g. Onshape, SolidWorks, Rhino, KeyShot, Figma, Adobe CC) as well as current AI applications.
• You have experience in construction, prototyping, and workshop processes with different materials. You master freehand as well as technical drawing.
• You are a communicative and reliable person with strong cooperation and social skills.
• You think and work interdisciplinarily and enjoy teamwork.
• You have organizational skills and are experienced in the autonomous planning and implementation of projects and teaching units.
• You have excellent knowledge of German.
