The Verein Asyl Berner Oberland (ABO) is a non-profit organization with currently around 140 employees. Commissioned by the Directorate of Health, Social Affairs and Integration of the Canton of Bern, ABO supports approximately 2-550 persons in the asylum sector in the Berner Oberland in its role as a regional partner of the canton. The main tasks of ABO are promoting integration and accommodation as well as the provision of social assistance. Integration is our focus. To strengthen the Residential Support team, we are looking for a

Residential Companion 40-60% ##

starting on 1.2.2027 or by arrangement.

You promote our clients' residential competence to lead them towards independent and autonomous living in Switzerland. You find it easy to commit to establishing good neighborhood relations, sustainability, cleanliness and order, as well as (residential) independence. Then you are in the right place!

Your tasks:

• You receive clients in KU Take-off or individual living space and you conduct residential entry interviews.
• You make regular apartment visits in Take-offs and individual apartments.
• You accompany and guide clients to promote independence/residential capability.
• You are responsible for the guidance/instruction/support or assignment of maintenance and repair work.
• You support clients in contacts with landlords, neighbors, municipalities (mediator role).
• You take care of the construction and furnishing of new Take-offs.
• You work closely with integration consultants, municipalities and volunteers.
• You can carry out small, simple repairs.

You bring with you:

• completed training as a Sozialpädagoge/in HF or similar training
• practical (domestic/manual) skills
• ability to work purposefully with team members and other internal departments
• ability to explain complex matters simply
• interest in asylum and refugee issues and openness to people from foreign cultures
• understanding of the concerns of clients, neighbors, caretakers etc. regarding living
• open, understandable and appreciative communication skills
• ability to set boundaries
• driver's license
