The task of the courts and other judicial authorities is independent adjudication. They decide on disputes between parties as well as between private individuals and the state. As an employer, we offer responsible, diverse, and demanding positions.

The Kantonsgericht is the court of first instance in civil and criminal matters in the Canton of Schaffhausen. It currently consists of six female and male judges and at least three substitute members. The electing authority is the Kantonsrat.

Following a recent change of a Cantonal Judge to the Obergericht, the following position is to be filled as of 1 January 2027 or by arrangement

• Management of proceedings and conducting hearings as a single judge in family law proceedings
• Cooperation with court clerks in the instruction of proceedings
• Judicial participation in the civil and/or criminal chambers

What you bring with you

• The office requires a professionally well-qualified, expeditious, and team-oriented personality. The attorney patent as well as several years of court and/or attorney practice are required.
• You have negotiating skills and assertiveness, are resilient, independent, able to accept criticism, and decisive.
• Prerequisites are an irreproachable reputation, Swiss citizenship, and residence in the Canton of Schaffhausen from the start of office.
