As part of the Department of Education of the Canton of Zürich, the Office for Youth and Career Guidance is responsible for the services of child and youth welfare as well as career guidance. At the center of our work are children, adolescents, and families. We advocate for them every day with a lot of passion and commitment.

Would you like to support the Foster Families department as a Research Associate in the authority team, starting immediately or by arrangement? The position comprises an 80% workload and is limited until 31.12.2030.

Together with two other employees, you will be responsible for the authorization and overall supervision of foster care relationships based on the Child and Youth Care Act. You will examine permit applications, make clarifications in cooperation with involved agencies such as KESB, child and youth welfare centers (kjz) or the Migration Office, and interview foster parents and foster children regarding the requirements for authorization. Based on this, you will decide on the granting of permits. In addition, you will participate in the development of conceptual foundations as well as in projects and support the department management in networking, stakeholder management, and professional exchange with various interest groups.

You bring with you: ###

• University degree in Social Work, in a social science subject area, or in Law
• Several years of professional experience in child protection work and in dealing with challenging family situations, as well as sound experience with official procedures
• preferably knowledge in the field of foster care
• A stable, assertive personality with a confident appearance
• Great interest and a high social commitment to the interests of children, adolescents, and their families
• Strong conceptual and analytical skills and high social competence
• Proficient German in speaking and writing, combined with the ability to present complex matters precisely and comprehensibly in authorization decisions
• Affinity for IT-related questions and the use of specialist applications
• an exact and structured way of working
