The PHBern awards around 800 teaching diplomas per year and is thus one of the large Universities of Teacher Education in Switzerland. Equally significant is its commitment to continuing education and to services for teachers and school leaders, as well as its profession-related research, development, and evaluation.

The Institute for Research, Development and Evaluation coordinates the research, development, and evaluation area of the PHBern. It supports the connection of research with teaching and the professional field, ensures purposeful networking within and outside the university, and carries out its own projects.

The advertised position is located within the research focus "Fachdidaktische Forschung" at the Institute for Research, Development and Evaluation. Within the framework of this research focus, basic and application-oriented subject-didactic questions are investigated. The focus is on topics of the natural sciences, education for sustainable development (BNE), as well as conceptual development in the teaching/learning process.

Collaboration in a Switzerland-wide research and development project on biodiversity education funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF), which is carried out together with eleven Universities of Teacher Education and other practical partners. Developed educational approaches are practically implemented and scientifically investigated both in compulsory school and in the training of prospective teachers.

Your tasks

• Collaboration in the development of learning arrangements and collection instruments
• Support in the implementation of the project in schools and in teacher education
• Support in the planning, organization, and implementation of data collection with students and prospective teachers
• Collaboration in the preparation and documentation of the collected data and project materials

Your profile

• Studies at a university or (Pedagogical) University of Teacher Education in a degree program related to the research project (teaching profession, psychology, biology, etc.)
• Interest in research activities
• Reliability, commitment, and organizational skills
• Teaching experience is an advantage
