The security station at Inselspital (BEWA) is a unique institution of judicial enforcement for the Canton of Bern nationwide. It serves the medical treatment of somatically and/or psychologically ill or injured admitted persons of all types of detention, age groups, and genders, who cannot be admitted to another hospital for security reasons or cannot be treated in prison or a correctional facility for medical reasons.

Your tasks

• Within the framework of dynamic security, you supervise and monitor the ill female and male admitted persons (EP) at the BEWA (https://www.ajv.sid.be.ch/de/start/themen/haft/bewachungsstation.html).
• You ensure the safe accompaniment of stationary and outpatient EP during medical examinations in the clinics of Inselspital.
• By means of professional security measures, you are responsible for the protection of the doctor/nursing team, employees, EP, and the public.
• Through attentiveness and your ability to act interactively with the EP, you succeed in building positive relational work.
• You are able to make situational correct decisions and initiate de-escalating measures. This also includes access controls as well as desk, information, and telephone services.
• You perform your work in shift and on-call service (24/7).

Your profile

• You are between 25 and 45 years old, have completed a 3-year vocational training, and have several years of professional experience. Due to the current team composition and operational requirements, this announcement is preferably aimed at female applicants.
• You are not listed in the criminal and debt enforcement register.
• You are physically and mentally fit and healthy.
• Your mother tongue is German and you can communicate in French or English; further language skills are of great advantage.
• In the event of on-call assignments, you must be able to reach the work location within one hour.
• In dealing with the EP, you appear friendly, confident, and accommodating at all times.
• You respect official and professional secrecy.
• You like to take on and carry responsibility and are capable of managing complex situations professionally with the necessary calm and distance.
• You work reliably and are flexible (irregular assignments, night, on-call, and weekend service).
• Your high social competence distinguishes you in dealing with the EP as well as our partners.
• You can deal with common IT programs (MS Office) without problems

About the Office for Judicial Enforcement

The Office for Judicial Enforcement (AJV) is responsible for the open and closed execution of sentences and measures for adults and juveniles within the Security Directorate of the Canton of Bern (SID) with around 1000 employees. To fulfill this task, the office has four concordat correctional facilities, four regional prisons, the security station at Inselspital, the detention management center, as well as probation and enforcement services at its disposal.
